A Little Getaway to Pigeon Forge

We recently took a little family escape to Pigeon Forge, and it was just what we needed. Fun, fresh mountain air, and quality time together.
One of our favorite stops was The Island, which is currently hosting a dino-mite event through November 2nd! Life-sized animatronic dinosaurs have taken over the walkways, making it a thrilling (and free!) add-on for families exploring the area. Between dino sightings, we caught the water fountain show which is always a hit and such a peaceful way to take a breather. If you are looking to add a little bit of fun while at The Island, be sure to check out the arcades, ropes course, and of course the huge SkyWheel! Hot top: ride the SkyWheel at night! It is so beautiful!
Another highlight of the trip was visiting Parrot Mountain. This hidden gem is tucked literally on the side of a mountain! We got to feed and hold all kinds of beautiful birds, which was such a magical experience for the whole family. A quick heads-up: the walkways are steep and winding, so if you’re visiting with a stroller or wheelchair, just know it may be tricky to navigate. They do offer golf cart tours for an additional cost, which is a great option if mobility is a concern.
We also spent an evening driving through Cades Cove, a must-do if you’re in the Smokies. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and soak in the scenery. Hot tip: Go at sunrise or sunset for your best chance to spot wildlife. We saw deer and even a few wild turkeys!
Back at our hotel, the Best Western Plaza Inn, we took full advantage of the pools (yes, plural!). Sometimes the best memories come from just hanging out and being together.
Of course, no trip is complete without good food (and a few sweet treats), so here are a few of our family-favorite spots to eat in Pigeon Forge:
Pirates Voyage Dinner Show – Dinner and a show? Yes, please! Always a family win.
Big Daddy’s Pizzeria – Wood-fired, crispy crust, and kid-approved.
SweetFrog Frozen Yogurt – A build-your-own dessert dream come true.
Dick’s Last Resort – Go for the chaos, stay for the laughs (and surprisingly good food).
Margaritaville – Great vibes, yummy drinks, and tropical flavors right in the mountains.
Sunliner Diner – Classic diner breakfasts all day long! Casual, cozy, and perfect for pancakes or a hearty burger.
Thinking about adding this trip to your list? We’d definitely recommend carving out time for a mix of nature, play, and just relaxing poolside. Let me know if you’d like help planning a getaway like this — I’ve got plenty of tips to share!
Your Bibbidi Bobbidi Besti,
Kayla
