One of my favorite Disney resorts for couples is Coronado Springs Resort in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort Area. Even though the only transportation is buses, I still love this resort. The Gran Destino tower is as luxurious as any of the Deluxe resorts. This resort is not as big as Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside, but behind the Tower are the Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas. There is also a convention center on this property which can make it busy when they have a convention. Luckily, the resort is big enough and has enough restaurants that you will probably not notice when they have a convention.
One of the best things about this resort is all the dining options that you have to choose from. Like all resorts, they have a quick service dining that is in the Tower called El Mercado de Coronado. They have the usual fare you find at all quick service restaurants, including your favorite Mickey waffles. The other dining options in and around the tower are Cafe Rix (a sports bar), Maya Grill (fine dining), Laguna Bar (Outdoor lakeside bar), Siestas Cantina (Poolside bar and grill), and Maya Grill (fine dining). In addition to these restaurants Coronado Springs also has Toledo - Tapas, Steak, & Seafood, Three Bridges Bar and Grill, and Dahlias Lounge which sits atop the Gran Destino Tower. Three Bridges is a great restaurant that overlooks the water around the property with paths that lead to the Casitas area, the tower, and the pool.
When you have a break in your park visits it is nice to visit Coronado Springs pools.The main pool is The Mayan Pyramid pool or The Lost City of Cibola Pool. This pool has a beautiful pyramid with a really fun slide inside the pyramid. There are also 3 leisure pools near the 3 sections across from the tower. The Dig Site also has the largest hot tub on property. Like all resorts there is always something going on, make sure you check with the recreation hosts.
The last reason that this is one of my favorite resorts for couples is that it is the only moderate resort with a Club Level. Club level elevates your experience from average to extraordinary. The Chronos Club has light snacks and refreshments available to all Club Level guests throughout their stay and a place to relax. This can help you save money on food during your trip.
Whether you stay in the Gran Destino Tower or the Casitas, this resort will make you feel like you are in the lap of luxury even though you are not paying for it. So the next time you plan your trip as a couple you might want to give Coronado Springs Resort a try. I do not think you will be disappointed.
