Ireland: The Last Saga

Last time I wrote to you all we left off in Inis Mor. After leaving Inis Mor we continued our trek north to Letterkenny. We made a stop at the Sliee League Cliffs. While not as iconic as the Cliffs of Moher, I highly recommend stopping to see them. There is a little bit of an uphill trek, but it is filled with beautiful views the entire way!

After leaving the Slieve League Cliffs, we stopped overnight at the Raddison Blu in Letterkenny. This entire area of Ireland is big on Rugby. There was a big tournament around the time we were there and almost every house had a flag outside of it supporting their team! It was a pretty cool thing to see.

The next morning after leaving Letterkenny, we stopped at Glenveagh National Park. Glenveagh is the second largest national park in Ireland. If you find yourself in the area it’s definitely a must see. Beautiful mountains, pristine lakes, and the Glenveagh Castle can all be seen here. We were here for a few short hours, but you could spend days here walking/hiking the multiple different walks and trails. After stopping at Glenveagh, we headed to the Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa in the Atlantic Coast for an overnight stay. This place was beautiful in and of itself and the views from our room out to the Atlantic Ocean were stunning. I would love to go back here with my husband for a getaway for a few nights just the two of us!

Upon leaving The Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa, we headed into Belfast for the last part of our trip. On our way into Belfast, we made several stops. The first was the Londonderry City Walls, known for being the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland. After walking around the walls, we stopped at Dunluce Castle about an hour drive away. We then stopped at the famous Giants Causeway before heading into Belfast.

In Belfast, we stayed at the Ramada Crown Plaza. Once we arrived we had dinner and hung out at the hotel bar for a bit before turning in for the night, as the next day was jammed with touring all the Belfast sights we could get in. We stopped at the Albert clock, got to see the dry dock where the Titanic was built, stopped at the Titanic Quarter Museum, ate lunch at the Crown Liquor Saloon (go here!), stopped at Victoria Square and the famous aAunt Sandra’s Candy Factory, before catching an overnight ferry into Liverpool.

If you ever find yourself with the chance to take a trip like this, I am here to tell you, do not hesitate, GO! It was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken and to this day I have so many memories that will last a lifetime. Travel in general is one of my happy places and I find it one of the best ways to make “core memories”, but a trip like this is truly next level. I can not wait until we can take another trip like this and take our kids with us this time!!

Until Next Time,

Your Bibbidi Bobbidi Bestie,

Holly
