Have you ever taken a one on one trip with your kiddo?
A year ago my husband and I decided we should start taking solo trips with each of our kids. He took our son up north to Tennessee and I decided to surprise our daughter with an overnight trip to Great Wolf Lodge. My daughter had been asking to visit there for quite some time and I figured it would be the perfect opportunity for a visit there! I’m sure most of you have seen some kind of advertisement for Great Wolf Lodge. But for those who haven’t, it is a super fun, family resort with an indoor waterpark!
When we visited, it was around Halloween so the whole place was decorated and ready for all of their HOWL-o-ween events! We arrived pretty late and we ended up walking right into the Monster Bash dance party. That was super fun! Lilah loves to dance and took that opportunity to show off her wild and crazy dance moves while I got us checked in.
I booked us the standard suite and it was very cute without being over the top. We loved the subtle details around the room. Lilah got a kick out of the paw print on our mirror. But to be honest, what she loved most (decor wise) were the hallways. The hallway carpet had different animal footprints and she would stomp her way down the halls to match the footprints. (shrug emoji) Sometimes it's the little things that make the best memories.
There is SO MUCH to do at Great Wolf Lodge. They have a little of everything. They have a small themed Build-A-Bear, arcade, MagiQuest, and of course the indoor waterpark! I honestly have to say that my biggest mistake with this mini trip is that I didn’t plan enough time to experience everything. By the time we arrived the waterpark had closed for the day. We decided to check out the cute little candy store, the main gift shop, and Lilah had just enough time to pick out a super cute wolf from the Build-A-Bear shop before it closed.
The next day we decided to wake up extra early so we could try to mark off everything on our “must do” list before checking out and heading home. First up, MagiQuest! When you first arrive you can build your own magic wand that you will use around the MagiQuest center as well as the whole resort. It’s kind of like the wands from Wizarding World. You find the marked areas, wave your wand, and watch something magical happen. It is super cute and I do suggest planning enough time to experience this fully. Next up was the waterpark! We ended up spending every second that we could inside the waterpark area. The water park has something for everyone in your family- a wave pool, slides, and splash areas for the little ones. Lilah is such a little fish. She would spend the rest of her life in the water. It was so much fun watching her run from area to area and living her best life! Our last activity was gem mining. Ok, so this part was partially a bribe to get Lilah out of the waterpark, cleaned up, and changed so we could hit the road. (shame emoji) But hey, it worked! Haha. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. (shrug emoji)
Overall it was super fun.I do wish we had more time to really enjoy ourselves and experience more of what the resort had to offer. I guess it is time for this mama to plan another, LONGER, trip!
