Have you been fantasizing about taking your family on a cruise? Temperatures have been below zero where I am and colder than usual all over the country. A winter getaway to somewhere tropical sounds better than ever!
There are a number of cruise lines to choose from catering to all different travel styles. When we are planning a family-focused trip with something for everyone, Royal Caribbean is our number one choice!

The Ships:
We love the variety and innovation that Royal Caribbean offers through its cruise ships. They currently have a fleet of 28 ships with more on the way! To keep track, they are all categorized into a “class,” with the latest being the Icon Class featuring the largest and most decked-out (so to speak) ship on the ocean, the Icon of the Seas.
Here are a few more categories to help you find a ship that fits your family’s personality!
Oasis Class: Oasis, Allure, Symphony, Harmony, Wonder, and Utopia of the Seas are among the largest in the world. These ships are known for their fresh and inviting features, such as Central Park (an open-air garden), Boardwalks, and expansive pools and water slides! You will find endless dining options, Broadway-style shows, and even an ice skating rink.
Quantum Class: Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation of the Seas take cruising to the next level with cutting-edge technology and thrill-seeking experiences. These ships boast the North Star – a glass capsule that takes guests high above the ship for panoramic views, and the RipCord by iFly, an indoor skydiving experience. With their modern design and futuristic offerings, they are great for adventurous families!
Freedom Class: Freedom, Independence, and Liberty of the Seas are known for their versatility and balance of comfort and fun.You will find attractions like rock climbing walls, water slides, and a variety of dining options. Freedom Class ships are ideal for families and groups looking for a mix of fun and relaxation.

The Destinations:
Since we are daydreaming about warmer weather, imagine yourself on a white sand beach with your toes in the crystal clear blue water of the Caribbean! You can sail to Bermuda, Eastern or Western Caribbean, the Bahamas, down both coasts on Mexico, to the Panama Canal, or all the way to the warm seas of the Mediterranean or the South Pacific!
Other incredible itineraries include Asia, the British Isles, Alaska, New England and Canada. I’m sure I am missing some amazing itineraries because the options seem endless. Your family will love balancing relaxation and fun on the ship with adventure, culture, and nature on land.

The Budget:
Royal Caribbean offers great options for all price-points. Here are some important factors to consider that affect the pricing of your overall vacation:
Age of the Ship: Their newest, cutting-edge ships like the Icon and the upcoming Star of the Seas land at a higher price point and offer the most options for activities. But there is still more than enough to keep everyone busy on the tamer and slightly older Independence of Seas.
Length of the Itinerary: The number of nights in your itinerary will also affect the price, giving you options from 3-14 night cruises. A long weekend getaway is within reach, or you can plan for a luxurious long vacation.
Location of the Departure Port: If you are located within driving distance of a Royal Caribbean departure port, you can skip paying for airfare and head right for the ship! Within the United States alone you will find departure ports in Hawaii, Baltimore, Boston, New Jersey/NYC, Florida, Galveston, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, and New Orleans!

Ask your travel agent for ways to fit a Royal Caribbean cruise into your vacation budget so you can enjoy a family-bonding getaway worry-free!
